The Northfield Apartments Closes in Fairport

Family Service of Rochester has announced the closure of its enriched housing program at The Northfield in Fairport, effective by the end of next month.

The nonprofit cited financial constraints as the reason for ending the state-licensed program, which provides residential care for seniors who can live independently but require support services.

Family Service assured that affected residents are receiving assistance in finding suitable and safe alternative housing and health services.

In a statement, Family Service said in part, “We appreciate the strong and dedicated work of the staff during this time of transition and look forward to finding appropriate homes for all our residents.”

The news comes just two days after the announced closure of Family Service’s assisted living program at Jonathan Child Apartments on Colvin Street.

That followed the closures of two other of the organization’s enriched housing programs at Danforth and Hudson Ridge towers last month.
